You are here: Home - Monotype

A monotype is a print pulled in an edition of one, from a painting made on a  sheet of metal or plexiglass and then passed through an etching press or pressed by hand. In most cases, it is possible to run the plate again, and get a “ghost” image, which has a softer line, less detail and more diffuse color. Monotype is an immediate technique unlike many other printmaking processes, with the image  appearing in reverse!
