Land * Ÿ scape: an extent or area covered by the eye from one [personal] view point

We are landscape classes: beginner [200 level] intro plein air painting to semi-professional [600 level] Independent Study. Independent Study is organized as a graduate seminar: each participant designs his or her own project within an overall theme.

Most of the pieces exhibited here are color or value studies done on site within the 20 or 40 minute parameters of changing light.

Since our last exhibit, we’ve worked in mixed media [ink drawings with gouache, pastel or watercolor], monotype, and oil.

We select the subjects for the year ahead, which have included:

§  underpainting [including grisaille] and under-drawing

§  monotype

§  turning the form by value or hue

§  strokes

§  green

§  and oil techniques for plein air studies.

We are passionate about landscape!
