Curriculum vitae

Sierra Exif JPEGCatherine Kinkade is an accomplished landscape painter. A Master Pastelist of the Pastel Society of America, she also works in oil and monotype, and has exhibited all over the world. Her commissioned landscapes are in dozens of corporate and private collections including Tiffany, AT&T and Exxon. A founder of Viridian Print Studio, she is the ” Howard Van Vleck Artist in Residence”, Van Vleck Gardens in Montclair NJ, and has taught for many years at the Montclair Art Museum.

“Kinkade’s landscapes explore quiet places in a manner that looks both familiar and abstract, leaving room for the viewer to explore the invisible. A soft, even light illuminates the surface, lending a dream-like idealism to a realistic rendering”. Mary Abell, ARTSPEAK”

A contemporary American painter working in the Taoist tradition of landscape painting, (Her) work bridges East and West… the invisible made visible through paint” Kristen Park, TCM World Newspaper

“And at the end of the “Black & White” show, Catherine Kinkade’s drawings of snow on the wisteria vines at the town’s Van Vleck Gardens intoxicate with the hypnotic rhythms of her assured lines. Kinkade is also represented upstairs in the Virginia S. Block Gallery with “Study: Clos Wall 2,” a beautiful watercolor and ink French summer scene.” Carol Selman, Montclair Patch Review of Studio Montclair Shows ”Black, White and Technicolor Star in Two Shows” December, 2011
